Details

This includes everything you need to upgrade your single processor 2009 Mac Pro 4,1 to a Dual X5690, giving you 12-cores running at 3.46GHz. It is ready to ship immediatly, and has been tested and guaranteed to work. You will need to update the firmware prior to swapping the tray (Flash drive containing firmware is included, and will email you a link to the download upon purchase) The firmware update may not run if not using an original Apple video card. If you do not have an Apple video card, or are unsure, let us know so we can make arrangements to loan you a video card to do the firmware update.

No RAM is included, you will need to provide your own RAM. The 2009 Mac Pro originally came with PC3-8500 RAM, and when upgrading the processor you can also upgrade the RAM to the faster PC3-10600 RAM, but this is not required, the RAM will just run at the slower speed.

This will only work with the 2009 Mac Pro model 4,1. It will NOT work in the 2010 5,1 model, as the trays have a different firmware. If you need a tray for the 5,1, or need help determining which model you have, let me know

It is advised that you purchase this tray only if you have a single CPU model, if you already have the Dual CPU model I would suggest you purchase our X5690 kit instead.

Unlike other upgrades where you are required to send in the tray, I do not need anything back.

Included in the kit are:
Flash drive with the firmware update
Mac Pro Dual CPU Tray with 2x Xeon X5690 (Total of 12 cores)
